India-1967 was the codename for a hostile strain of smallpox taken from India to a Soviet biological weapons facility that had been established in 1947. The starting point for this project was the discovery of a flooded Royal Observer Corp observation post in the Scottish countryside, abandoned since the end of the Cold War. The work explores how bacteria and propaganda travel, grow and divide, and the links between the internal compasses of aquatic magnetotactic bacteria, the threat of cyber attack, cold war germ warfare and our need to find sanctuary and protection.
